The Good, The Bad and The SCAF

On November 30, 2011, in Egypt, by Mostafa Sheshtawy

The Egyptian revolution rose again this November, exactly on the 19th, after the CSF forces tried to end a sit-in by beating the revolution injured. The solidarity within Egyptians was big, that’s why the numbers increased to thousands within few hours. The clashes started on Saturday and the fight kept going for over 100 hours. I’ve lived most of these 100 hours in the square, specially in mohammed mahmoud st. And I’ve witnessed with my own eyes the ugly side of the war against oppression. And I can say that I’ve seen the good, the bad and I’ve seen first-hand the Egyptian army.

**All these pictures are mine, and I would appreciate if you do not just take them without permission.

The Good

Is every single one in Mohammed Mahmoud St. those fighters who have been fighting oppression since Jan. Some of them been fighting this fight years before the revolution, someone like Malek Mostafa, blogger and activists years before the revolution, been fighting the old regime, was jailed back in 2006 and now in November 2011 got shot in the eye, by the brutal police forces.

The good is someone who didn’t care about life, as much as he cared about freedom. The good is someone who didn’t want to kill the other side,  but wanted to push them back. They never wanted to storm into the Ministry of Interior as the media said, they wanted to defend their square. The square is the only thing they have, it might be symbolic, but it’s they way to say we are free, and power to the people.

Taking the rubber bullets with arms wide open

The good are those who got their motorcycle that is their way of income, and their only transportation and made it a quick ambulances for the heroes inside the fight.

The Motorcycle quick ambulances

The good are those Doctors, that most of them were still students but wanted to help as much as they can. Those who saved hundreds of lives. Those who broke down when they saw a dead body, shot by the police, and made him think, are these who supposed to protect me!?

one of #Tahrir's field hospitals

The good are those who payed thousands of pounds to get medicine to the heroes, those who payed all they had to get as much medicine as they can, and they died later on in the fight. Are those kids who were in the front lines, helping the heroes.

Revolution Kids, He was in the front line helping people from Tear gas pain

The good are the mothers that kept praying for their sons and daughters and kept giving them strength to go on for hours and hours. The good are those fathers that went to the square with their kids, and helped the field hospitals or sprayed the burned faces from the tear gas.

The good is every martyr we lost during this transition. Is every brave man or woman who gave their lives for this country and its people.

دم الشهيد | The blood of the Martyr

The Bad

Is every soldier on the other side of the fight, is every soldier who wanted to “kill” another human being, thinking that this is how to cause security. The bad is every officer had a chance to spare a life, but shot it, is every coward of them who shot a fellow Egyptian in the eye. Is every bastard of them who shot another fellow Egyptian in the back.

Is the soldier that thought his weapon made him stronger than someone with a rock and a heart of a fighter. The bad is every soldier that assaulted a woman, and abused her.

CSF shooting teargas and throwing rocks at protesters

The Bad is the man who gave the order for these soldiers to beat, shoot, kill our fellow Egyptians all over the country, and now hiding behind the scenes. The Coward that doesn’t have the guts to say this is a mistake, and the blood of an Egyptian is worth saving.

Another CSF Soldier Shooting at protesters

Who shot us with everything they’ve got, from sticks, rock to expired tear gas, forbidden tear gas, rubber bullets, bird shots, buckshots and live ammo. Who also ran over human being with their trucks and crushed their bones.

All kinds of weapons were being shot at us!!

The SCAF

The SCAF is the ugly face, this face that almost everyone  don’t want to face. The army is now uglier than police, it is supposed to help, but it beats, it supposed to cure, but it kills, it supposed to be truthful, but they are full of lies.

Those soldiers who beat us up, then come say they saved us !!

On Sunday, they came with over 100 soldiers, beat thousands with sticks, with side by side with police that shot us, with everything they had. They killed over 10 people. I’ve seen with my own eyes, and now they say they are pro-democracy and protect the elections.

The Egyptian Army beating people in #Tahrir

Every member of SCAF, who lied without blinking on national TV, saying that we never beat someone, killed someone or assaulted someone. Lies that are weak yet gets into the emotional. Lies that are bold!! so bold that if you change the channel you will find the truth.

 شكرا للمجلس

The SCAF, is how you humiliate a human being, it’s how you violate a human right, how to do virginity checks, how you abuse someone, how you burn them, electrocute them, and say I did not do it.

Down with Supreme Council, Tahrir Sit-in

The SCAF is the true ugly face of the old regime. The army is the biggest anti-revolution organization in the country. The SCAF is the new oppression force, and its dirty hand is the police and CSF. Now Police, Army( including military police), CSF are so mixed up that they wear their outfits to oppress as much as they can, and kill us.

What I wanna say is, Be part of the good, support the good, demand the purging of the Police, and fight to topple the SCAF.

Down with Military rule
